About Decon

Decon is a journal about creative work: the images, sounds, decisions and collaborations that turn an idea into something people can experience.

Our focus moves between film, music, documentary storytelling and visual design. Articles explore practical questions in depth, from planning a small shoot to building a coherent release identity. The aim is to make the reasoning behind creative choices useful and understandable.

How to use the journal

Start with a question from your own project. The guides offer approaches to try, examples to adapt and questions to discuss with collaborators. An illustrative project is identified as an example; it is not presented as a commission, interview or firsthand production credit.

Editorial approach

Articles are published under the Decon Editorial name. We favour clear explanations, specific examples and useful distinctions over equipment shopping lists or promises of a single correct process. Film, music and design overlap here because many projects need all three.
